Dr. Lechner was born west of Kansas City and raised in Albuquerque, NM. He moved back to Kansas to attend Kansas State University, followed by medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. OB/GYN residency brought him to UNC Chapel Hill, where he met his wife, Sharon, a family medicine physician.
